Early Morning Shooting Leaves One Injured and One Dead

On January 8, at around 2:19 am, Minneapolis Police Officers heard the sound of gunshots being fired on the 300 Block of 3rd Avenue North. While responding to the area it was updated to a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located two adult victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Paramedics from Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) along with officers provided medical care to the victims. A male victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics. A female victim was transported to HCMC by ambulance and is being treated for her non-life threatening injury.

The name of the deceased, as well as the cause and nature of his death, will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.

A team of investigators are interviewing witnesses at the shooting scene and are checking with business owners in the area to see if the shooting was captured on surveillance cameras. No arrests have been made.

First Precinct officers will be in the area of the shooting in the coming days speaking with business owners. Community members are strongly encouraged to speak with officers about this crime or any other concerns they may have.
