Strong to severe storms and heavy rain are expected later today across the region. Here’s your seven-day outlook:
We’ll see calmer weather Friday and into the weekend, but our focus is on the weather threat as we go throughout today.
Severe – starting off with the severe threat, the Twin Cities and parts of southern/eastern Minnesota into Wisconsin are under an Enhanced Risk of severe storms today. Even though we could see rain a good portion of the day, a line of storms is expected to form late this afternoon and move across the Enhanced Risk area. Damaging winds are the main threat. We will also be on the lookout for tornadoes, especially south of the Twin Cities.
Rain – the other major concern today is heavy rainfall. As mentioned above, we could see rain hang around much of the day across the Twin Cities. The forecast is currently showing the potential of 1-3” of rain across parts of southern Minnesota (including the Twin Cities) by the time the rain pushes out tonight.
